Environmental monitoring at Arusha bypass road works

Biodiversity Node gave support to Acciona Engineering when performing environmental monitoring audits during construction of the Arusha Bypass road project, in Tanzania.

As a project financed by the African Development Bank, monthly visits were carried out in order to check construction works compliance with World Bank environmental standards. 42,5 km of road, 20 borrow pits and 3 campsites were regularly visited and audited. Additionally, capacity building and community meetings to register public complaints and concerns were organized and undertaken in coordination with local authorities.
