The congress focused on crucial topics such as: monitoring of populations and habitats; breeding behavior and migratory movements; the growing threats from agricultural intensification and new land uses, such as renewable energy development.

Our participation included:

  • Oral presentation by Eladio García de la Morena: “Guidelines and work protocols for drone flights on Lanzarote Island”, in collaboration with SEO BirdLife. The talk addressed protocols, field results, observed impacts, and regulatory recommendations aimed at minimizing the effect of drones on bird populations.
  • Oral presentation by Diego Chamizo Hermosilla (Master’s Thesis): “Contractions in the distribution of farmland and steppe bird species in Spain in relation to agricultural intensification”, analyzing contractions in species distributions linked to intensive agriculture.
  • Scientific poster (García de la Morena, E.; Magaña Pascual, O.; Fernández-Mellado, R.): “The standardization of data as a tool for conservation: the case of steppe birds in Castilla-La Mancha”, showcasing the value of standardized data on distribution and abundance as a critical management tool for more effective conservation.
