Biodiversity Node was proud to take part in the 8th Conference on Wind Energy and Wildlife Impacts (CWW 2025) under the theme “Coexistence in a Changing World: Sharing Existing Knowledge, Challenges and Emerging Solutions.”
Our team contributed two key presentations:
- Alejandro López García led a session presenting our methodology for evaluating and optimizing repowering projects, with a strong focus on mitigating impacts on avifauna. This innovative approach sparked significant interest among attendees and highlighted practical solutions for integrating biodiversity considerations into wind energy development.
- Rodrigo Fernández-Mellado shared our experience in reducing griffon vulture mortality at wind farms in Guadalajara. The presentation emphasized the vulnerability of scavenger birds to turbine collisions and showcased a case study underscoring the value of adaptive management and collaboration with local shepherd communities to reduce risks.
These contributions underline our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and coexistence between renewable energy and wildlife conservation. We are grateful for the engagement of the international community at CWW 2025 and look forward to advancing collaborative solutions that support both clean energy and biodiversity.
